On to state finals

Spokane’s reputation as a cross-country hotbed is well deserved. After regionals last Saturday (Nov. 1) down in Richland, the GSL will be sending six teams out the of the 10 that qualified.

Staying the course

Entering a pair of games this weekend, the Spokane Chiefs were hoping to buck a recent trend of inconsistency, marked by a 1-1-0-1 record in three contests since a 5-2 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Oct. 17.

Looking familiar

The Spokane Chiefs entered the weekend of Oct. 24 and 25 undefeated at the Spokane Arena and with back-to-back home games lined up against two of the inferior teams in the Western Conference.

Best of the U.S. Division

Following their season-opening 4-2 defeat in Cranbrook at the hands of the Kootenay Ice, the Spokane Chiefs have rattled off 11 consecutive games with at least one point.

Points of emphasis

In a newsworthy week for the Spokane Chiefs, the team gained six of a possible eight points during a four-games-in-five-nights stretch to maintain their lead over the rest of the field in the U.S. Division.

Celebrating a banner season

One week after getting their opening road trip of the season out of the way, the Spokane Chiefs came home to drop the 2008 WHL Championship and Memorial Cup Championship banners on Saturday, Sept. 27 and did so in style.

Despite showing flashes of potential over his first two years in the Western Hockey League, Spokane Chiefs left winger Levko Koper could not quite break out.

The road to first place

If the Spokane Chiefs can find some semblance of offensive consistency soon, they have the potential to run roughshod over the rest of the Western Conference and WHL.
