Nestled away in Moscow, Idaho lies a secret weapon of epic proportions for the University of Idaho volleyball team. Overshadowed by the recent dominance of Hawaii and their national attention, Vandal senior Haley Larsen is putting up numbers that will hopefully put her team in the same breath as those Western Athletic Conference schools further south.

A lot can happen in a game when more than half of the team consists of freshmen. Coaches must have a lot of trust in the freshly-recruited athletes to take such a big step, and this is not unfamiliar to the Whitworth volleyball team.
This year, Whitworth is starting fresh with 12 new players on the team, of which 11 are freshmen and one is a transferring junior. A total of 19 players, including four seniors, are going to be fighting to get the Pirates a 2008 Northwest Conference title.
