From gridiron to grapes

Chris Scott wasn’t much of a winner at Wenatchee High School.

“We never really had a winning season there, it was fun to go to Eastern,” said Scott.

Fun would be referring to the Big Sky Championship and the semifinals run that the Eastern Washington football team made in 1997 in the then-Division I-AA playoffs. Scott was undeniably an important part to that run as he was named Big Sky Defensive MVP and All-First Team Division I-AA.

Dodging a Viking-sized upset

In front of nearly 7,500 screaming fans at Woodward Field, proportionately donning red and white, the EWU football team put a scare in the home opener last Saturday, escaping the upset bug 52-31 over the Western Washington Vikings.
