The television advertisements of generic athletes and their “click-clack” football rally cry was one of the maiden impressions Under Armour left the public with two years ago. It was an announcement to the people that the big wigs of the athletic gear world had another challenger.
Initially thought of as a designer workout outfit, commonly thought of for those with unrealistic body types to get its intended ripped effect, today Under Armour’s repertoire includes more than just tight-fit pectoral display cases and shirts that were initially spawned for the sole purpose of wicking sweat.

Apparently, Spokane Legion Baseball’s decision to go with wood bats instead of aluminum has paid off. After playing out the regular season games with splendid splinters, Spokane’s top high school talents have switched back to some heavy metal for postseason play and look to do some damage.
“They just thought that it would help with their pitching and hitting,” said Mike Padden, one of the commissioners for Spokane American Legion. “I know that the hitting has been better in the tournaments. That’s just a theory though, who knows.”

Spokane Indians fans may have started to hit the panic button when their team lost two of three to the last-place team in the division, the Yakima Bears, last weekend at Avista Stadium.
However, fear not, it’s still the same old Indians. After having their four-game winning streak snapped by the Bears with a 5-1 loss on July 31, and then a second straight loss on Aug. 1, the Indians went on a tear.
Shock defeat Wranglers 42-14 to advance to second round

The Spokane Shock used a big second half to put some distance between them and the visiting Austin Wranglers en route to a 42-14 victory in the first round of the playoffs. Offensive lineman Kyle Young caught two of Nick Davila’s five touchdown passes as the Shock used a 28-7 scoring advantage in the final 30 minutes to avoid a second consecutive first-round playoff elimination.
End of the Line

They may play in front of the Lilac City, but on at least eight Saturday nights during the year, the Spokane Shock play in front of an orange crowd in the Spokane Arena. During each of these nights, 10,000 strong cheer and jeer in hopes of helping the Shock to yet another victory.

Austin Wranglers preview

On May 24, the Spokane Shock traveled south to Austin, Texas in the season’s eighth game to face the Austin Wranglers. At 7-0, the Shock went into the game against the 3-4 Wranglers, looking to wrap up a perfect first half of the season. After Austin tied the game at 14 early in the second quarter, the Shock took over, outscoring the Wranglers 34-10 over the next quarter and a half to put some distance between the teams. Austin made a bit of a rally, scoring with 9:10 left to cut the Shock lead to 55-42, but Spokane closed the scoring late with Nick Davila’s seventh TD pass to defeat the Wranglers 62-42.

At the first Spokane Shock practice since wrapping up their 15-1 regular season, players on both sides of the ball were joking, laughing and enjoying themselves in preparation for their match-up on Saturday, Aug. 2 versus the Austin Wranglers at Spokane Tribe Field.
